unit 41　Wishの使い方

今日学んだこと。

①We use wish to say that we regret something, that something is not as we would like it.
現在のことについて述べる場合は　Wish+過去形

例）I wish I knew what to do about the problem.(I don't know and I regret this)
　　　（今この問題の対処の仕方を知っていればいいのになぁ。）

過去の事について述べる場合は　Wish+過去完了

例）It was a stupidthing to say. I wish I hadn't said it
(バカな事を言ってしまったもんだ。言わなかったらよかったのになぁ。）

②I wish I could ......の使い方

I wish I could (do something) = I regret that I cannot do it
　今現在できなくて残念に思っていること（couldの後に現在形）

例）I'm sorry I have to go. I wish I could stay longer.(but I can't)
　　 (ごめんなさい。もう行かなくちゃ。もっと長くいれればよいのに。）

I wish I could have (done something) = I regret that I could not do it.
過去にできなくて悔やんでいること(couldの後に現在完了）

例）I hear the party was great. I wish I could have gone.(but I couldn't go)
　　(パーティー盛り上がったんだってね。私も行ければよかったのになぁ。）

③We often use I wish ....would to complain about a situation

例）The phone has been ringing for fibe minutes. I wish somebody would answer it.
　　（電話が五分間も鳴り続けている。誰かが出てくれればいいのに）

④We use I wish...would..for actions and changes, not situations.
状況の変化・行動を表す文に使い、現在の状態を表す文には使わない。

例）I wish Sarah would come.（＝I want her to come)
　　（サラが来てくれればいいのに。）行動・変化

but I wish sarah was here now. ~~( I wish Sarah wobld be)~~
　　（サラがここにいればいいのに。）状態
